1) Who we are
This website (abtestkit.io) and the abtestkit WordPress plugin are operated by abtestkit (sole trader) (“we”, “us”, “our”).
Contact: abtestkit@gmail.com
Postal address: We don’t publish a postal address on the website. For formal notices, email us and we’ll provide an address for correspondence.
2) What this policy covers
This policy explains how we handle information:
- when you visit abtestkit.io; and
- when you use the abtestkit plugin, including optional, opt-in telemetry.
3) Information we collect
A) Website visitors (abtestkit.io)
When you browse the site, our hosting and security systems may log:
- IP address, device/browser info (user agent), pages requested, timestamps, referrer headers, and error logs.
If you contact us by email, we collect what you send (e.g., your email address and message).
B) abtestkit plugin users (optional, opt-in telemetry)
If you opt in in the plugin onboarding, abtestkit may send anonymous usage telemetry to abtestkit.io to help improve the plugin.
Telemetry may include:
- a pseudonymous site identifier (a hash generated from the site URL);
- plugin / WordPress / PHP versions;
- milestone events (e.g., onboarding completed, test wizard opened, test created, daily “heartbeat”);
- basic test attributes (e.g., test type page/post/product, manual vs automatic mode, conversion/CTA type);
- hashed CTA fingerprints (short hashes, not raw selectors/URLs).
We design telemetry to avoid collecting page content or personal data. WordPress recommends being explicit if a plugin collects telemetry and keeping disclosures clear.
4) How we use information
We use information to:
- run and secure abtestkit.io (including abuse prevention);
- respond to support queries;
- improve abtestkit based on opt-in telemetry insights (e.g., onboarding completion, feature usage, stability).
5) Legal bases (UK GDPR)
Depending on the situation, we rely on:
- Consent — for optional telemetry (only if you choose “Yes” in onboarding).
- Legitimate interests — for basic site security, fraud/abuse prevention, and service reliability (e.g., server logs).
- Contract / steps to contract — if you request support or services (where applicable).
6) Sharing your information
We may use service providers to run the site (e.g., hosting/CDN/email). They process information on our instructions.
We may disclose information where required by law, or to protect our rights and systems.
7) International transfers
If a service provider stores/processes data outside the UK, we’ll use appropriate safeguards where required.
8) Cookies
We may use strictly necessary cookies for website operation/security. If we add optional analytics cookies in the future, we’ll provide clear controls where required.
9) A/B Testing and Optimisation
We use abtestkit to run A/B tests on pages, posts and WooCommerce products.
abtestkit may use first-party cookies and/or browser session storage to keep visitors assigned to the same version of a test. This helps ensure visitors see a consistent experience and allows test results to be measured accurately.
The variant assignment cookie name starts with “abtestkit_pt_” and stores only the assigned test version, such as “A” or “B”. By default, this cookie lasts for 30 days.
For click conversion tracking, abtestkit may use sessionStorage to prevent the same click being counted more than once during a browsing session.
A/B test events are stored in this website’s WordPress database. These may include impressions, clicks, purchases, test ID, variant, order ID and order amount for revenue-based tests.
abtestkit does not store names, email addresses, or raw IP addresses for A/B test tracking. Where IP address and user agent data are used, they are hashed before storage.
10) Data retention
We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above.
Suggested defaults (adjust if you prefer):
- Support emails: up to 24 months after last contact.
- Security logs: up to 30 days (longer if investigating abuse).
- Telemetry: up to 24 months, then deleted or aggregated.
11) Your rights
You may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object, and (where applicable) portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to complain to the ICO.
How to exercise rights: email abtestkit@gmail.com.
Telemetry deletion note: telemetry uses a pseudonymous site hash. If you want us to locate and remove your telemetry, email us from the site owner/admin address and include the site URL (so we can compute the matching hash).
12) Opting out of telemetry
You can withdraw telemetry consent at any time by disabling telemetry in the plugin (where available) or emailing abtestkit@gmail.com.
13) Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date will reflect changes.
